Emmy-winning comedian Patton Oswalt doesn’t get the star treatment at home. “Just had my usual breakfast — the mini-pancakes & cantaloupe slices my daughter didn’t eat as I rush out the door to get her to school,” the dad of Alice, 7, tweeted Monday, September 26.
Minutes later, fellow celebrity parent Angela Kinsey shared her morning meal with the Veep actor. “@pattonoswalt I had half of a slightly gnawed on waffle and some left over strawberries … eaten while standing as I cleared the plates,” wrote the Office alum.
And the tweets kept coming in.

I had a lovely breakfast of yelling to brush his teeth and get his shoes on. Low carb.

Later that night, during an appearance on Conan, a somber Oswalt, 47, opened about the unexpected death of his wife, Michelle McNamara. The writer and founder of the website True Crime Diary died in her sleep at the age of 46 on April 21.
“Of all the people I’ve ever known — romantically, personally or professionally — I was a different, better person having met her and spent a life with her,” Oswalt told host Conan O’Brien. “She was the reason my comedy got better, to the point where someone would consider me for an Emmy.”
The Talking for Clapping scribe, who took home the Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special Emmy, said his September 18 win was bittersweet. “It’s very abstract, because it’s the flavor of happiness, but there are no calories or nutrition there,” he explained. “It’s like, it tastes like it, but there’s nothing. I’m not putting down winning an Emmy, but watching a bad movie with [my wife] or fussing over what we’re going to pack, if we’re going to go on a trip on a plane, that was happiness. That’s what it actually felt like for real.”
