So long Bluebell, hello maternity leave! Jaime King recently dished to Us Weekly all about Rachel Bilson's pregnancy while attending the Nourage Beauty Breakfast event in L.A. last week. The good friends wrapped Hart of Dixie's fourth season earlier this month, giving pregnant Bilson extra time to relax before her baby's arrival.
"We shot faster because of Rachel's pregnancy," King, 35, explained to Us. "I came back after six weeks," she added of her own pregnancy. "We shot until the day before. And she's taking her full maternity. I took six weeks." (Cute alert: Lana Del Rey and Topher Grace helped out with her baby when son James arrived in October 2013!)
Us broke news in May that Bilson and longtime boyfriend Hayden Christensen, both 33, were expecting their first child together. The O.C. alum only needed to doll up as her character Dr. Zoe Hart for 10 episodes, but off camera she took plenty of time to play with King's baby boy.
"We've always been bonding, but she will literally stay around an hour or two after she wraps just to see my son. Literally obsessed with him," King gushed to Us. "He's in love with her. That was before, even before she got pregnant. She has always been in love with him."
The model-turned-actress also had Bilson's back on set. "For me, my number one thing was making sure she was protected," she said. "I was the first one that got pregnant [from the cast]. "They were supportive, but I could tell that in our industry, becoming pregnant is a nuisance."
It was pure pleasure, however, celebrating Bilson's baby shower on Aug. 31. As exclusively reported, Bilson was feted by King, Natalie Portman and more at a friend's home for the special occasion. Instead of gifts, guests brought birth beads that would help give her strength during labor.
"That was really fun," King recalled to Us. "It ended up being this long [necklace], so she's going to hang it in the baby's room." Some brought regular beads, while others presented the mom-to-be with crystals and stones. King added: "It was really special and really beautiful because everybody brought a really beautiful piece that meant something."
