Planning ahead! Shahs of Sunset star Mercedes “MJ” Javid exclusively revealed to Us Weekly that she’s “extremely” grateful she froze her embryos before marrying Tommy Feight.
“I really want all women who are single and 35 years old to run to their fertility doctors and get it done, do not bully,” Javid, 45, told Us on Tuesday, July 30. “I just think it’s really awful to wait and put it off until you’re over 40 because you’re just increasing your odds and you’re just making it harder for yourself and don’t worry about the costs and don’t worry about … it is a lot of hormones that can make us feel crazy.”
“But, of course, I am happy because I wasn’t really willing to have a child unless I was going to be married first,” the Bravo personality added, noting that she’s “traditional that way.”
Javid and Feight, who tied the knot in April, plan on having two kids and haven’t ruled out adoption. “We are ready to have a baby,” she said. “We have almost completed the [IVF] process … I hope, I pray that it’s in the cards for me to be a mom very soon.”
The reality star also opened up about the side effects of undergoing IVF and why it’s important for her to be honest with fans about her experience.
“The truth is that I have a lot of ups and downs, moment to moment, especially on the hormones from IVF stuff,” she explained. “You retain a lot of water. You feel really great one moment and then terrible another moment. That’s the reason why I share because, in my Instagram Stories for instance, I’ll say, ‘I don’t feel good today, but I want everyone else to know not to beat themselves up, to be kind to yourself and know that those days happen to everyone.’ Because that’s how we connect to people, is if you’re going through something and you and I share that, [that’s] how much we just closed the gap between the two of us.”
Javid also dished on newlywed life while chatting with Us. “Tommy is really such an easy guy to fall in love with because we laugh so much together, every day,” gushed Javid. “I mean, he looks into my eyes like the Fourth of July is going on in his face and so I fall in love with that. I can’t help it.”
