Ashley Wagner‘s face says it all. The Team USA figure skater — who made headlines last week for her shocked reaction to what she thought was an unfair score — was visibly disappointed (again!) in the judges’ response to her short program at the 2014 Sochi Olympics on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
After finishing her routine to Pink Floyd’s “Shine on You Crazy Diamond,” Wagner joined her coach on the sidelines to await her score. She was in good spirits — she even spoofed herself by making a faux-unhappy expression like the one she made on Feb. 8.
The expression turned real, however, when she received her score of (spoiler alert!) 65.21. (The score put in her sixth place, behind teammate and fourth-place finisher Gracie Gold.) Fortunately, Wagner recovered quickly from her initial shock and, after a brief conversation with her coach, turned to the cameras with an enthusiastic thumbs up sign and a shrug of her shoulders.
Speaking to Us Weekly about her nonexistent poker face last week, Wagner admitted she’s not one to hold in her emotions. “I’m a strong-headed person, and you can always tell how I’m feeling in that moment,” she explained.
“I feel like I’m in a bit of a bubble here. So I haven’t really seen any of it,” she added of all the hoopla over her first reaction to her score. “But a couple of my friends have said I’ve been made into a meme, which is probably the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
