Breaking his silence. Blake Shelton took to Twitter on Tuesday, July 21, for the first time since the news of his divorce from Miranda Lambert broke.
The country crooner, 39, was silent on Monday, July 20 — the day that he and Lambert released a joint statement announcing their split — but returned to social media the next afternoon with an update for his nearly 13 million followers.
"Just got off the treadmill," Shelton wrote. "This calls for a drink. Bitch…"
While there are widespread rumors about just what led to the end of the singers' four-year marriage, Shelton does not seem to be in much of a hurry to cut Lambert, 31, out of his public persona. The Voice coach still features his ex-wife prominently on his Twitter profile, as Lambert's stunning January 2015 Marie Claire cover is on display as Shelton's cover photo.
Lambert's team sent out messages about her upcoming performances on Monday morning, but her Twitter account has maintained radio silence in the hours since the stars announced and quickly finalized their divorce.
"This is not the future we envisioned," Shelton and Lambert told Us Weekly in a statement on Monday. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
