Happy sweet 16, Slim Shady! To celebrate the 16th anniversary of his highly successful sophomore album, The Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem is selling limited-edition memorabilia on his official site. And yep, those rare collectibles include bricks from his now-demolished childhood home.
The Michigan native, 43, is making pieces of his old house available to fans in packages starting at $313 a pop. The Detroit abode was featured on the cover of Eminem’s groundbreaking second LP, which spawned some of the entertainer’s biggest hits, including “The Real Slim Shady” and “Stan.”
The Oscar-winning “Lose Yourself” rapper’s residence also appeared on the cover art for his 2013 effort, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The home was destroyed the same month MMLP2 was released, after the state of Michigan deemed it structurally unsafe.
Fortunately, Eminem was able to save some of 19946 Dresden Street’s remains, which is why 700 of the structure’s bricks are up for grabs. According to the musician’s online store, each brick will include a numbered certificate of authority, Eminem’s signature and a display stand with a commemorative plaque.
In addition, the dad of Hailie, 20, has re-released his 2000 album on cassette tape, featuring a 3-D motion-printed cover. The chart-topper will also make early-aughts-inspired dog tag necklaces (composed of repurposed wood rescued from his former home) available for purchase. You can get the cassette, the dog tag, a brick and a T-shirt for $350.
A portion of the proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Marshall Mathers Foundation, which aims to benefit the city of Detroit.
