Hill-arious! Hillary Clinton has inspired several impressions over the years — and mainly on Saturday Night Live. The Democratic presidential candidate, 69, has been portrayed by stars like Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler and Kate McKinnon, who has had more than enough material to work with on the most recent seasons of the NBC show. Check out Us Weekly Video’s supercut of the best HRC impressions!
The Ghostbusters actress, 32, has been praised for her on-point Hillary-isms. She’s particularly nailed down her wave, laugh and shoulder shimmy.
“I just try to channel her staunchness and sweetness at the same time. It’s really the juxtaposition of those two things that makes her funny,” McKinnon told Time magazine in October 2015. She added of Clinton’s cackle: “Obviously, this is an exaggeration of her actual laugh. She definitely doesn’t laugh that way always. She does have a throaty, hearty laugh that we’ve heard. Or maybe I heard it just once and I said, ‘That’s the laugh that I’m going to do.'”
The former secretary of state has no problem with the parodies. Last year, she played a bartender named Val while McKinnon parodied her in an SNL sketch. The pair had a hilarious exchange in a bar scene.
“You give off such a cool, young vibe,” Val teased. “You must work in Brooklyn.”
Clinton opened up about McKinnon’s impersonation to Rookie this week. “Watching Kate McKinnon play me on SNL is like an out-of-body experience. Some of what she does is, at times, a little too close for comfort,” she said. “There’s a kind of pinching wave she does that I definitely recognize. I do know from having been on the show with her that there is one big difference between the two of us: She’s a wonderful singer, and I can’t carry a tune to save my life.”
