Treats for Twinkie! A Jack Russell terrier named Twinkie just broke the Guinness World Record for popping 100 balloons in the fastest time.
The adorable dog (those speedy legs!) completed the challenge in 39.08 seconds — and did so in front of a few dozen audience members! He popped each of the 100 red balloons, which were set on a mat on the floor, by using his mouth and front paws. (Twinkie is owned by California resident Doree Sitterly.)
The pooch’s talent runs in the family. His mother, Anastasia, previously held the record from 2005 to 2015 with 44.49 seconds. Anastasia showed off her talents during Live! with Regis and Kelly in 2008.
Twinkie still has some competition out there, though. According to Guinness, a Jack Russell terrier named Cally “The Wonderdog” — the most recent leader — popped the same amount of balloons in 41.67 seconds during season 9 of Britain’s Got Talent in May 2015.
“I am so proud of what she did. She is a world champion. She did amazing!” judge Simon Cowell said at the time. TV personality Amanda Holden chimed in: “That was barking mad!”
Cally received a round of applause for the accomplishment. Like Cowell and Holden, fellow judge David Walliams was shocked at the pup’s talent. He added: “We witnessed history tonight. It’s strangely quite compelling to watch a dog burst balloons!”
Thanks to Twinkie, history has been made again!
