Johnny Depp is ready to put his marriage behind him. His rep tells Us Weekly in a statement that the actor is looking for a quick resolution to his divorce from Amber Heard, who filed to end their union on Monday, May 23.
“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” his rep tells Us in a statement on Thursday, May 26. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”
The Danish Girl actress, 30, cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce petition.
Since news of their split broke, reports have surfaced that the 52-year-old actor’s family — particularly his mother, Betty Sue Palmer, who died Friday at age 81 — were not fans of Heard, which allegedly caused friction between the couple.
The pair, who met on the set of 2011’s The Rum Diary, were married for just over a year. Depp was previously with partner Vanessa Paradis for 14 years; he and the French actress-singer share daughter Lily-Rose, 16, and son Jack, 14.
