Kanye West is fighting back against the photographer who's suing him for damages following an altercation at LAX in July. The rapper, 36, has counter-filed papers claiming he acted in self-defense when he allegedly shoved Daniel Ramos this summer, TMZ reports.
The papers state that it was Ramos who "willfully and wrongfully caused [West] to reasonably believe his safety was in danger." They further allege that the hip hop star did only what was "necessary for his self-defense and safety and was justified in doing those acts."
As previously reported, the "Black Skinhead" rapper was walking near the Tom Bradley International Terminal arrivals exit when he allegedly tried to steal Ramos' camera. "He didn't hurt the pap," a source close to West told Us Weekly at the time. "They were just heckling him as usual. Kanye went to grab the camera and the guy fell being so dramatic."
Earlier this month, West was formally charged with one count of criminal battery and attempted grand theft. If found guilty of the charges, he could face a maximum of one year in prison, TMZ reported.
An arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 10.
