All or nothing! O-Town is set to release a fourth album — and it’s all thanks to their fans. The boy band has raised more than $60,000 (and counting!) since launching a Kickstarter to fund their new music on September 30.
“We’re ready to put out new music, and the fans have made it known they’re ready for it too,” member Jacob Underwood tells Us Weekly in a statement. “For the first time in our musical careers we’re faced with no label or funding to help us deliver.”
Underwood, 36, and his bandmates — Dan Miller, Erik-Michael Estrada and Trevor Penick — surpassed their goal of $47,500 in just seven hours. The last day to contribute is October 30.
“The music industry has changed. When we first started, if you didn’t have a label, you had nothing,” Estrada tells Us. “Now, the power of the internet and the support of your fans, that’s the true key to success. Our fans have stood by us for over 15 years, and this just goes to show that an era of music that many thought was over was really just a sleeping giant that needed to be awakened again.”
O-Town formed in 2000 during the first season of MTV’s Making the Band. They disbanded in 2003, but reunited in 2014 — without original member Ashley Parker Angel. That same year, they released their third album, Lines and Circles.
The musicians released several hits before that, such as 2001 tracks “All or Nothing,” “Liquid Dreams,” “Baby I Would” and “Every Six Seconds.” They performed the songs when they hit the road this past summer for the My2K tour with fellow ’90s artists 98 Degrees, Dream and Ryan Cabrera.
O-Town’s new album will hit shelves in spring 2017.
