The man who took his own life at the Jupiter, Fla. home of Olivia Newton-John has been identified. Local police confirmed in a statement late Tuesday, Aug. 20 that Christopher Pariseleti, a 42-year-old landscaper doing work at the Grease star's residence, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound midday Monday. Following an autopsy on Pariseleti's body, the statement read, "This case investigation has been classified as a suicide and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Pariseleti."
Newton-John, 64, and husband John Easterling were out of town when the incident occurred, and said in their own Tuesday statement that they were "in shock over the tragic event."
"He was a longtime and good contractor in the area," an insider close to the Australian singer-actress reveals to Us Weekly. Just before shooting himself, the source adds, "he dropped off his eight-year-old son — I think at school." The little's boy's birthday was said to be this week. "So sad," the insider says. "He had a lot of internal issues."
As it happens, Newton-John and Easterling may not be living in the residence much longer: Rosie O'Donnell is reportedly under contract to buy the home for $5.6 million. The insider notes, however, that a "For Sale" sign remained outside the home at the time of Pariseleti's death.
