Mourning the loss of a friend. Patrick Dempsey took to Twitter on Tuesday, July 7, to remember his late costar Amanda Peterson.
The Grey's Anatomy alum, 49, became a household name when he starred opposite Peterson in the 1987 teen classic Can't Buy Me Love. Dempsey played the nerdy Ronald, who slyly becomes involved with stunning cheerleader Cindy (Peterson). The two hit it off on the big screen, bringing in $31.6 million at the domestic box office.
As previously reported, Peterson passed away this past weekend at the age of 43. Dempsey remarked on the passing of his costar, who died in Colorado on July 5.
"In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young," the Enchanted star wrote of Peterson. "Gone too soon. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amanda's family."
A cause of death has yet to be determined for Peterson. The former child star made a lasting impression during the 12 years she spent in the entertainment industry, and was remembered by friends and collaborators alike following her untimely death.
Celebs such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lance Bass, and Scott Foley paid tribute to the Explorers star on social media this week. Peterson's mother Sylvia also remarked on her daughter's passing, telling Us Weekly, "I just think she was a precious person and it's a big loss. That's all I can say."
