UPDATE: On Monday, May 4, the proud new parents announced the name of their daughter: Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
Start guessing! Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed a bouncing baby girl on Saturday, May 2, officially making Prince George a big brother. While the happy royals have yet to reveal the new royal baby, there are already odds on the little one's name.
Royal enthusiasts have been placing bets for weeks on the name the second child will be given. As of Saturday morning, the UK's Coral betting service reports that Alice has the highest odds of being the baby girl's name.
With a 5 to 4 ratio, Alice falls above the famed royal name of Elizabeth, which currently posts odds of 5 to 1. Next on the list is Charlotte at 6 to 1, Victoria at 8 to 1, and Alexandra at 12 to 1. There was some speculation that Prince William, 32, would pay homage to his late mother Princess Di by naming his own daughter Diana, but the name is showing odds of 14 to 1.
The little girl's name will be announced soon, following a formal reveal of the baby outside of St. Mary's Hospital in London. A Kensington Palace spokesman tells Us that the name will be announced "in due course."
As Us Weekly previously reported, the Duchess of Cambridge, 33, arrived at the hospital at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, checking into the Lindo Wing, where she gave birth to Prince George on July 22, 2013.
"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am," a representative from Kensington Palace wrote on the palace's official Twitter page on Saturday. "The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth… The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed… Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
