Not again! Actor Shia LaBeouf seems to be digging himself an even deeper hole with each new apology and explanation. Earlier this week he hired a skywriter to apologize for recently plagiarizing artist Daniel Clowes in a 5-mile-long sign over Los Angeles, and after writer, director, and actress Lena Dunham took offense, LaBeouf, 27, made yet another faux pas.
"Im addicted to lean & that s–t ain't no joke," he tweeted. "I can barely remember all the things I've done & said. However there's no excuse 4 skywriting."
Lean is a codeine and soda cocktail also referred to as "purple drank" and "sizzurp" and made popular by Houston-based DJ Screw. But more shocking than LaBeouf's apparent drug admission is the fact that his tweet was mostly lifted from rapper Gucci Mane.
Back in September 2013, the rapper tweeted a long apology to his fans, including, "I wanna be the first rapper to admit I'm addicted to lean & that shit ain't no joke. I can barely remember all the things I've done & said. However there's no excuse. I'm currently incarcerated but I will be going to rehab because I need help."
The former Transformers star originally got in trouble for plagiarizing in mid-December when it was discovered that parts of his short film HowardCantour.com were plagiarized from graphic novelist David Clowes' 2007 novella, Justin M. Damiano. Before skywriting his apology, LaBeouf sent the artist numerous tweets expressing his remorse.
