Donald Trump‘s youngest daughter, Tiffany Trump, took to the stage at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday, July 19, and spoke passionately about the presidential nominee, singing his praises as a dad who is “so friendly, so considerate, so funny and so real.” But it’s not the first time the recent college grad has stepped into the spotlight.
Back in 2011, the then-17-year-old tried to launch a pop career, releasing a single called “Like a Bird.” The auto-tuned song, which is available for download on Amazon, also features singers Sprite and Logic.
Tiffany, who is the only child of the real estate mogul and his second wife, Marla Maples, made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show back then to talk about her music dreams and about growing up in Los Angeles, on the opposite coast of her dad and siblings.
“My brothers and sister, they’ve all achieved so much in their lives and had so much success, but I’m 17, so I’m just growing. I’m just learning, and I have a strong head on my shoulders,” she said. “Since I have grown up on the West Coast, it definitely is different than all of them growing up on the East Coast. It’s a different kind of lifestyle, California versus New York. New York, I mean, my dad is the center of the city.”
“I love music,” she said of her singing aspirations. “It’s always been very dear to me, and it’s a deep passion. It’s more of a hobby right now, but we’ll see in a couple of years if I actually do want to take it to the next level, as a professional level. But right now my priority is just focusing on school and getting into a good college.”
Despite growing up in the lap of luxury, Tiffany insisted that she has “always been grounded.”
“People would think not, because of who I am, but I’ve always been raised with that sense of morals, from my dad and my mother both,” she continued. “So it’s given me a chance grow up and be Tiffany, not just Tiffany Trump.”
Now 22, Tiffany graduated from the University of Pennsylvania this year and previously worked as an intern at Vogue and walked the runway for Andrew Warren at New York Fashion Week in February.
She impressed many with her personal speech about her father at the RNC on Tuesday night, sharing warm anecdotes.
“My dad takes such pride in all that I’ve done so far, no matter how big or how small,” she told the delegates in Cleveland. “I still keep all of my report cards, some dating back to kindergarten, because I like to look back and see the sweet notes he wrote on each and every one of them.”
