Keeping up with the Pfeffermans! Transparent creator Jill Soloway revealed during an interview at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday, April 2, that Caitlyn Jenner is joining the Emmy-winning Amazon series, the Associated Press reports.
Details of the I Am Cait star’s role have not yet been unveiled, but Soloway said that the reality-TV mainstay will start filming her season 3 scenes later this month.
“We are all part of the same community — a lot of the trans women who work on our show are also in her show, I Am Cait,” Soloway said. “Lots of crossover. Lots of friends.”
Transparent and I Am Cait were among the big winners at Saturday’s ceremony, which was held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. Transparent — which stars Jeffrey Tambor as retired professor Marla Pfefferman — nabbed the prize for best comedy series, while Cait tied with TLC’s I Am Jazz for best reality program.
Decorated Olympian Jenner has dabbled in acting over the years, including a recurring role — then known as Bruce Jenner — on the 1980s cop series CHiPs, not to mention a bevy of TV commercials, such as a long-running Tropicana spokesperson gig. Recently, she is best known for her appearances on E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians and her eponymous spinoff.
I Am Cait airs on E! on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET. A premiere date for Transparent’s third season has not yet been announced by Amazon.
