Colton Haynes has only appeared on a handful of episodes of Arrow, but he's already made a lasting impression on fans and producers. One month after making his debut as Roy Harper on the CW hit, the former Teen Wolf star has been promoted to series regular for season two.
Haynes, 24, tells Us Weekly that he's happy about the decision — but a little wary of what might come next. "I'm excited to be joining the Arrow team but not excited to be training in the gym to keep up with Stephen [Amell]," he jokes of his super-athletic costar.
The actor — whose character was known as Green Arrow's sidekick for more than 50 years in the DC Comics universe — made his first appearance on the CW series in late February. At the time of his casting, executive producer Greg Berlanti told TV Guide that he was "thrilled" to have Haynes in the cast. "We were big fans of Colton from Teen Wolf," he said.
Haynes himself said last month that he was optimistic about his future on the show. "Having a younger character like Roy on the show could appeal to a wider audience — plus, his relationship with Thea is really blossoming," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm very hopeful."
