That’s what friends are for! The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks helped support costar Porsha Williams through her divorce, and Williams happily did the same for her pal, she told Us Weekly leading up to the big RHOA season 7 reunion.
“Honestly, being there for Phaedra was easy. She was there for me when I went through my divorce,” the Dish Nation host explained, “just the phone call away at any point and time. That was our relationship at the time.”
When Parks decided to split from husband Apollo Nida after he began serving an eight-year prison sentence for fraud, Williams was there to support her friend in any way possible.
“I wanted to make sure that she felt I was just a phone call away, whatever that was — whether we just get on the phone and have a conversation, not even talking about what she was going through,” Williams, 33, revealed. “We never really went through all the details — her, Kandi [Burruss, with whom she’s feuding], her husband, none of that! It was just being there for her and just being supportive with whatever she was doing.”
Plus, Williams, who appeared throughout season 7 despite her status switching from housewife to friend, wanted to be an ally while the other RHOA women were less than supportive. “You had Cynthia [Bailey] coming from the left with these accusations, and Kenya [Moore], and everybody just ganging up on her in their own little way trying to rip her name to shreds,” she said.
“All she had to do was be consistent, and that’s what she did,” Williams continued. “She’s consistent with who she was and who she is — which is a great mother, a great wife, and she loves her family. Love will conquer all at the end of the day. She didn’t even have to clap back — all she needed to do was concentrate on herself.”
The three-part Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion begins Sunday, April 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
