Like, for sure! Reese Witherspoon is ready for Elle Woods to make her grand return. The Oscar winner dished about a possible Legally Blonde 3 during an appearance on Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe on Thursday, Oct. 22.
“A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it. I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women,” Witherspoon, 39, said.
She added: “And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have [Elle Woods] be a Supreme Court Justice or somebody who runs for office, like president.”
Witherspoon may want to put Woods’ Harvard Law School diploma to good use again, but admitted she isn’t sure if something is actually in the works. “I don’t know,” she said. “Call MGM. I have no idea.”
Witherspoon played the pink-loving, sorority sister-turned-lawyer in Legally Blonde (2001) and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003). Though the sequel paled in comparison to the original, Witherspoon’s character has made a lasting impression on fans. Case in point: the “bend and snap.” The actress recently recreated the flirty technique at a Walmart shareholders meeting this past June.
“Bend, and you snap, and you stock!” Witherspoon said at the time, in Elle’s perky voice. “Now you try!” In Legally Blonde, Elle taught her friend Paulette (Jennifer Coolidge) how to seductively pick up a pen so her crush would notice her.
