The Newsroom is finishing up one more shift. The Aaron Sorkin-created HBO series will end after its third season, the Hollywood Reporter confirms.
Jeff Daniels, who stars in the drama as Will McAvoy, announced via Twitter last September that the series would be returning, despite an official announcement from the network. "It's official. #Newsroom coming back for a Season 3," he wrote.
Two weeks later, the 58-year-old actor took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the 2013 Emmy Awards for his work on the show. "Thank you to HBO. I can't imagine a more creative place to work, they're so supportive," he said during his acceptance speech. "The cast and crew — I share this with you."
The series also stars Emily Mortimer, Olivia Munn, John Gallagher Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Sam Waterson.
In the final installment, Sorkin and executive producers Alan Poul and Scott Rudin will be joined by Paul Lieberstein, THR reports. Lieberstein is the former showrunner for the hit NBC comedy The Office and will act as a fourth EP.
