Heading to the movies this weekend? Tina Fey and Steve Carell's new flick, Date Night, is one movie that viewers can afford to stand up.
In the uneven caper — out Friday — a square couple (Carell and Fey) get into serious trouble when dirty cops mistake them for blackmailers — and hunt them across New York City. Us' critic Thelma Adams says Fey and Carell offer their usual yuks, but the script could have used more work. "[It] lacks the snap of The Office or 30 Rock, and it has an awkward finale at a strip club," Adams says.
Perhaps Fey will have better luck with viewers when she returns to her old Saturday Night Live stomping grounds to host this weekend's installment, featuring a musical performance by Justin Bieber. Though sketches for the evening have not been confirmed, the Emmy-winning Fey has hinted she will revive her impersonation of 2008 Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Fey's visit to SNL marks her second hosting gig since her nine-year run on the series ended in 2006.
Also on the small screen this weekend is the finale of CBS' surprise hit Undercover Boss. This time, 1-800-FLOWERS president Chris McCann leaves the corporate world to secretly learn more about his employees so he can improve their jobs (and lives).
DVR alert for next week: Fox's Glee returns Tuesday after a four-month break reeling from their success at sectionals. Among the rockin' numbers the choir misfits (including Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Amber Riley) will belt out for the show's spring return: The Beatles' "Hello Goodbye," All-American Rejects' "Gives You Hell," and Lionel Richie's classic ballad "Hello."
