Birds of a feather… cry together! Willie Robertson and his wife Korie recently stopped by Us Weekly‘s NYC headquarters, where the Duck Dynasty stars discussed their latest endeavor, Duck Commander Musical: How Faith, Family and Ducks Built a Dynasty.
Korie told Us that the idea of a musical first started after the couple released their best-selling eponymous book in 2012. “Our agent read it,” Korie recalled, “and she just came to us and said: ‘I think your family story has what it takes to make a musical.'”
Given her love of musicals, the mother of three jumped at the idea. The experience has been more emotional, meanwhile, for her husband of 23 years.
“It’s pretty surreal, especially when you see your life play out onstage,” Willie told Us, pointing out how the musical features everything from his engagement to the birth of their kids. “It’s emotional for us every time we watch it.”
As for his favorite featured tune? “‘Camouflage,'” Willie said, explaining its personal value. The tune tells the story of how Korie supported and urged her husband into taking over the family business.
