About

Empire is a musical drama series that aired on Fox from 2015 to 2020. The series centers around the Lyon family as they fight for control over their hip-hop music company Empire Entertainment.

Terrence Howard stars as Lucious Lyon, CEO of Empire Entertainment. After being diagnosed with ALS, Lucious is forced to choose which of his three sons — Andre (Trai Byers), Jamal (Jussie Smollett) or Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) — will take over the family business, pitting them against each other in the process. Luscious’ ex-wife, Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), also vies for control of the company when she is released from prison.

Empire’s sixth and final season premiered in September 2019 and concluded in April 2020. Smollett was not included in season 6 after being indicted for filing a false police report regarding an alleged hate crime.
