Riverdale

Based on the characters of the comic book series Archie, the TV drama Riverdale premiered in 2017 on The CW. The show’s ensemble cast features KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones. While navigating love, family and high school, the group becomes entangled in the mysterious murder of a fellow classmate and discovers the evil lurking in the town.

The series begins when new student Veronica moves to Riverdale. She quickly forms a friendship with Betty and starts dating Archie — Betty’s childhood friend and longtime crush. Betty later falls in love with Jughead, and a romance sparked off screen between Reinhart and Sprouse. (The costars called it quits in 2020 after nearly three years of dating on and off.)

Throughout their roller-coaster romances, each character on Riverdale faces the challenge of surviving high school and what comes after. The show itself makes multiple pop culture references, including nods to Brokeback Mountain in season 2 and The Breakfast Club in season 3, which also features an entire episode dedicated to Heathers.

After seven seasons, Riverdale concluded in 2023 with an emotional series finale.
