About

Adapted from the international reality television franchise, the American version of Survivor premiered in May 2000 on CBS. Hosted by Jeff Probst, the show follows a group of strangers who are stranded in a remote location and challenged to live off the land. Contestants compete in various physical and mental challenges for rewards, including immunity from elimination. The group is progressively narrowed down as contestants vote to send one another home, eventually leaving one Sole Survivor who wins the grand prize of $1 million.

The survival reality series has been nominated for 67 Emmys and is widely considered the leader of American reality television based on its ratings, profitability and critical reception. Survivor has aired 45 seasons and counting, with locations spanning from Kenya to China to Fiji.
