Golden arches, indeed! The boyfriend brow, the bleached brow and the high-fashion straight brow are pretty commonplace in Hollywood (hello, Kardashian clan!), but we haven’t quite spotted anything like the studded pattern that Lupita Nyong’o’s wore to the Queen of Katwe premiere in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Tuesday, October 5.

To create the Lancôme spokesmodel’s eye-catching design, makeup artist Nick Barose tells Stylish that he dusted the brand’s metallic ebony powder in It List from lash lines to brow bones. Using a pointed brush, he mixed the gold powder in Lancôme’s Kissed by Gold Eyeshadow Palette with Mehron’s Mixing Liquid and dotted — more like painted — the color along the top edges of brows. Lancôme’s Fashion Forward lipstick completed the look.
In the midst of her whirlwind press tour — Toronto, Hollywood, NYC and most recently, South Africa — Nyong’o, 33, stopped to chat with Us about her role in the film, currently playing in theaters. “It’s a true story and an uplifting one about a small girl with a big dream,” she says. “The characters were complex and layered and interesting and I wanted to be a part of telling this story.”
