Just in time for the holiday gifting season, Louis Vuitton is debuting a four-piece candle collection that is meant to transport you to another time and place — without ever stepping foot on an airplane. Inspired by the French fashion house’s travel-oriented roots, the brand’s master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud has created a quartet of transportive scents (think: a French rose garden in the spring, a summery island breeze, etc.) housed in the chicest handle-adorned votives.
Cast in handmade ceramic vessels, the mineral wax candles are poured in Grasse, France, and feature a hand-painted braided wick, in addition to a natural leather handle a la Louis Vuitton’s most iconic handbags and trunks. Oh, and each candle also comes with a gold-finished metal lid that can act as a coaster while it is burning or protect the wax from collecting any dust when it’s not.
When it comes to the fragrances themselves, Belletrud set out to evoke the aroma of a delicate breeze coming in through an open window in places around the world. So whether you are dreaming of a trip to the beach or a hike in the woods, there is something for everyone.
- Ile Blanche: Enjoy an afternoon on island time with this salt air-inspired scent that includes bright notes of jasmine tea, citronella, orange and verbena.
- Feuilles d’Or: Remember when the idea of forest bathing (i.e. millennial speak for spending time outdoors) was all the rage? Well, this woody patchouli is blended with incense, cedarwood and balsam for a truly earthen effect — sans dirt.
- Dehors Il Neige: If you are looking for a holiday candle that is more winter wonderland than Christmas tree, this warm blend of pine, cinnamon and star anise calls to mind the enchanting aroma of freshly fallen snow.
- L’Air du Jardin: A true spring awakening, this rosy floral evokes the annual May bloom of the Centifolia rose in Provence.
Each candle in the Les Parfums collection retails for $185 and is available at select Louis Vuitton stores and at LouisVuitton.com. And for anyone in NYC during the holiday season, the brand is hosting a limited-edition fragrance and candle popup at 160 Prince Street in Soho from November 20 to January 5.
