No one makes Blake Lively sparkle as much as her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and their two daughters. So it’s fitting that the actress, 30, paid tribute to her family with a custom-made Judith Leiber rhinestone clutch at the Met Gala on Monday, May 7.
The glittery bag featured a medieval-style Reynolds family crest featuring the letters “B” “R” “J” and “I,” for Blake, Ryan, 41, James, 3, and 2-month-old Ines. So even though the 30-year-old actress was flying solo — she had her favorite people by her side.
Lively stunned in a Versace gown that took 600 hours to make because of the beading. But Reynolds, who is currently promoting Deadpool 2, says the most beautiful thing about his wife is her heart.
“She always responds with empathy,” the actor told Humans of New York. “She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were 5 or 6 years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times.”
The All I See Is You actress revealed to Vanity Fair last August that the key to her successful marriage is that she treats Reynolds “like a girlfriend” and asks him for advice about their own relationship. And he treats her “like his best buddy.”
But the star doesn’t like to gush about her happy union. “If I say, ‘I’m so in love with him all the time,’ then you get that eye-rolling, ‘Oh, her life is so great, she’s so perfect,’” Lively told the magazine. “So it’s, like, my defense mechanism.”
