The devil may wear Prada, but the bride wears Givenchy! Kim Kardashian surely had her pick of wedding dress designers in the run-up to her much-anticipated vows with rapper Kanye West, but in the end, there was only one person for the job: Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci.
A Givenchy rep confirms to Us Weekly that the reality star, 33, wore a Givenchy haute couture gown for her walk down the aisle at the scenic Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, on Saturday, May 24. Daughter North, 11 months, also wore a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress, and West, 36, wore a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci tux.
Tisci, 39, is a close friend of the bride and groom. He designed the controversial floral gown that a then-pregnant Kardashian wore to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's punk-themed costume gala in May 2013, as well as the plunging black cutout gown she wore during a headline-making appearance at Paris Fashion Week in October 2013. He also posed with little North in an adorable photo in November.
In an interview with the U.K.'s Sunday Times earlier this year, the Italian fashion guru compared North West's mom to the late movie screen siren Marilyn Monroe. "I met her as the girlfriend of a good friend," he said, referring to West. "I just wanted a moment with her to understand—and I fell in love."
"She's the Monroe of our age," he added. "People think she's like a doll, but actually she's tough and clever."
