Cecily Strong has been replaced as Saturday Night Live Weekend Update co-anchor, and the man stepping into her shoes is comedian Michael Che.
But while Strong is out as anchor, she won't be leaving the SNL team entirely. “Repertory player Cecily Strong will return as a full-time cast member,” NBC tells Us Weekly, adding that one of her most popular characters, a ditzy porn star-turned-aspiring-pitchwoman, will be back next series.
Che, who has been named one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Funniest People, will take Strong’s position beside Colin Jost on the Weekend Update desk for the start of the iconic late-night TV show's 40th season.
Comic Che joined the SNL team as a writer in 2013, and is already known for his work on The Daily Show, where he’s been a correspondent for the past three months. He has also performed stand-up on Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Late Show With David Letterman.

His appointment comes after a push from the production team to make the SNL family more diverse, a move that began with the hiring of African-American comedienne Sasheer Zamata in January.
SNL returns with a new season on Saturday, Sept. 27 with host Chris Pratt and musical guest Ariana Grande.
