For better or for verse! Alexa Ray Joel couldn't be happier for her famous father, Billy Joel, and his new wife, Alexis Roderick. She even wrote a poem to commemorate their top-secret July 4 wedding.
On Monday, July 6, the budding singer-songwriter — Joel's daughter with second ex-wife Christie Brinkley — took to Instagram to share a gorgeous new photo of the newlyweds, along with a few words expressing her joy over their nuptials.
"After six years of quiet yet unrelenting devotion / A surprise wedding sets their undivided promise in motion / I've never seen Pop more besotted yet contented / Nor his Darling, more luminously glowing / And, sufficed to say / On this glimmering gold-coast day / Many a tear on my hopelessly romantic cheek was flowing…" the 29-year-old wrote, hashtagging the poem "#GoldCoastGlimmerings," a reference to the Long Island shore where Joel and Roderick tied the knot.
As previously reported, the "Piano Man" crooner, 66, and his pregnant bride, 33, said "I do" at Joel's estate in New York, with guests including Alexa Ray, Kevin James, and Governor Andrew Cuomo, who officiated the ceremony.
After the wedding, Alexa's supermodel mom (who wasn't in attendance) sent her best wishes via Instagram, writing, "Congratulations to the glowing bride and groom..And to my daughter Alexa, who has a wonderful friend in Alexis! Wishing the growing family every happiness!"
Brinkley, 61, was the inspiration for Joel's hit song "Uptown Girl." They split in 1994 after nine years of marriage. He was also previously married to Elizabeth Weber from 1973 to 1982, and to celeb chef Katie Lee from 2004 to 2010.
