March can’t come soon enough! The cast of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — including newly single Ben Affleck — appeared at San Diego Comic-Con on July 11 to promote the film. While there, they treated fans to a brand-new, nearly four-minute trailer for the movie, which hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
The action-packed teaser offers an extended look at the superhero flick, with glimpses of Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman. There are also snippets featuring Holly Hunter, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, and Diane Lane, as well as, of course, Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill‘s Superman.
“Twenty years in Gotham — how many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?” a steely Affleck asks as Bruce Wayne. Later, speaking about the Man of Steel, he says, “He has the power to wipe out the entire human race. And we have to destroy him.”
During the panel, which was the Argo director’s first public appearance since he and estranged wife Jennifer Garner announced their split, Snyder and the cast discussed their take on the DC Comics characters. Batman, in particular, is “at the end of his rope, he’s older, burning out,” Affleck recalled of what Snyder told him about his vision.
“The truth was that [Zack] took me through the process of creating this character that I almost didn’t see,” the Oscar winner shared. “At the end of it, I was even sort of astonished to look at it and go, ‘That’s exactly what you pitched me and I wasn’t even sure that I was doing it.'”
