Kanye West’s pre–Thanksgiving Day hospitalization was caused in part by the rapper taking the wrong dosage of medication, a new report says.
According to TMZ, West, 39, has long been taking medications to help deal with mental health issues, but a recent deviation from the prescribed doses may have led to his erratic behavior and eventual hospitalization on Monday, November 21. A source close to the rapper denies the report and says it is “untrue.”
The site reports that stress after wife Kim Kardashian’s scary Paris robbery contributed to him altering his usual intake. (In early October, the Selfish author, 36, was bound and gagged in her Paris apartment as robbers stole approximately $10 million worth of jewelry.)
“He’s been shaken up ever since the robbery in Paris,” an insider told Us of how West reacted to the incident. “It did a number on him as much as Kim. The mere thought that anything could happen to her sent him in a tailspin. He wasn’t sleeping and he was having nightmares about it.”
As previously reported by Us, West was released from Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday, November 30, a little more than a week after checking into the hospital. A source told Us that the “Famous” rapper was relieved to be out.
“Kanye is very happy to be out of the hospital but is still receiving care,” the source said. Another insider told Us that West is currently living apart from Kardashian and their two young children.
“Kim is being very protective and doesn’t want Kanye around the kids right now,” the source told Us, while a second source explained that the reality star isn’t necessarily keeping the kids away from West, but agreed that it’s a “valid concern.”
