Kanye West is relieved to be out of the hospital more than a week after checking into it for extreme exhaustion, a source tells Us Weekly. The “Famous” rapper, 39, was admitted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Monday, November 21, and was discharged to rest at home on Wednesday, November 30.
“Kanye is very happy to be out of the hospital but is still receiving care,” a source tells Us. As previously reported, the hospitalization was triggered by an incident at trainer Harley Pasternak’s home last week. Sources told Us the 21-time Grammy winner was overwhelmed with stress from work, as well as wife Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery on October 3. The timing of his hospitalization also coincided with the anniversary of his mother’s death.
Kardashian, 36, has been West’s rock throughout the scary ordeal, another insider tells Us. “Most of the nights Kanye was in the hospital, she was sleeping there too,” the source says. “Kanye just wanted Kim there.”
The pair had been fighting before the rapper’s hospitalization, due in large part to the aftermath of the reality star’s scary Paris encounter, when she was tied up and held at gunpoint. “The trauma of the incident made her more hesitant to do things,” a source told Us. “Of course it strained their relationship, because she hadn’t seen him.”
Details of West’s November 21 hospitalization are just beginning to emerge, with TMZ releasing a one-minute, 24-second audio clip of his doctor’s 911 call on Thursday, December 1. In the audio, Dr. Michael Farzam, West’s physician, can be heard identifying himself and requesting police backup in addition to paramedics.
Around the one-minute mark, someone can be heard saying, “Sir, if you can just keep an eye on him. … Don’t let him get any weapons or anything like that. If anything changes, if he does become physically combative between now and when the police and/or paramedics get there, call us back.”
West’s sister-in-law Kendall Jenner, who walked the runway in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Wednesday, November 30, told Entertainment Tonight that despite the initial chaos, her famous family is pulling together just fine.
“Everyone’s OK,” she told ET backstage on Wednesday. “Everyone is doing OK, just praying.”
