Ready for round three! Alexis Bledel said she is preparing for a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants reunion with costars Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn and America Ferrera.
The 35-year-old actress opened up about her plans during a Monday, November 28, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“We would all love to do it. I think it would be so much fun, and we talk about it. It would be so much fun,” Bledel — who starred in the 2005 film and its 2008 sequel — said on the late-night show. “And I think we should absolutely do it. We’re working on it, so we’ll see if it happens!”
Show host Jimmy Fallon then offered his own idea for a revival of the movie franchise. “I was thinking maybe if you wanted to, I could reboot it with men and call it Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants with me, Kevin Hart, we can get Paul Rudd in there, Mark-Paul Gosselaar.”
The Saturday Night Live alum then offered another potential story line for Bledel, Lively, 29, Tamblyn, 33, and Ferrera, 32, to consider.
“I seriously think, though, you come out with the third one, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, get the whole team back together and you guys talk to each other,” he explained. “You’re older now and you go, ‘Hey, who has the pants?’ Where are the pants? You go, ‘Wait, I thought you had them.’ You go, ‘Wait, I just checked my FedEx tracking number — you had them the last time.’”
Bledel chimed in: “And then it gets a little hostile, maybe there’s a conflict.”
“Yeah, and the conflict — who has it — maybe someone’s kid is wearing the pants. Maybe someone’s mom is wearing the pants,” Fallon joked. “Maybe it’s been put on a scarecrow and it’s turned into a horror movie.”
Bledel, who recently reprised her role of Rory Gilmore on Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, seemed open to Fallon’s creative concepts. “We have to figure it out,” she said with a laugh.
Back in July, Lively told E! News that she is definitely down for a third installment of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. “We would love that,” the Shallows star said. “You know, we are such good friends. But to bring it back after so many years — it would have to be something that would really respect and honor the story in a way that makes it worth it to come back after so long.”
