Just being honest. Nev Schulman’s fiancée, Laura Perlongo — who gave birth to their daughter, Cleo, on Friday, October 21 — took to Instagram to update fans about her difficult time breast-feeding as a first-time mom.
“Gotta be an earnest mom real quick — breastfeeding is hard. No one warned me my breasts would quadruple in size, turn into painful rocks and send me into a total meltdown days after giving birth,” Perlongo captioned a photo of herself breast-feeding Cleo while snuggled up to Schulman, 32.
The freelance copywriter and creative director — who accepted a proposal from her Catfish star fiancé back in May shortly after she announced her pregnancy — went on to say that her issues with breast-feeding resulted in “uncontrollable crying.”
Luckily, she discovered Birth Day Presence, a child birth education service, that helped her get over the hump.
“Thank god nev remembered someone had reached out to offer help in this arena which, weeks ago, we sort of brushed off… now i know we were very naive. I couldn’t be more grateful to Jada Shapiro @birthdaypresence for coming over and teaching us how to deal these first few days and putting us on a path to success. I want to encourage new moms to get help BEFORE they need it and avoid the hopeless, uncontrollable crying you can still detect on my face in this picture,” she wrote.
The Boston University alum added: “Apologies if this tmi but it felt important to share. im cool now. ily. #breaststart #birthdaypresence”
Perlongo has been incredibly open about her breast-feeding journey since giving birth just four days ago. On Friday, she shared a snap of herself nursing her little girl in the hospital with proud dad Schulman sitting by their side.
“I don’t remember this photo being taken or anything about the last 24 hours but bb girl has finally arrived. Completely enamored with 6lb 10oz Cleo James born this morning at 6:01,” she wrote. “She’s everything.”
And on October 22, Perlongo gave her 87,000 followers an intimate look at the experience by uploading a close-up video of herself feeding her bundle of joy. “Cleo is all of us,” she captioned the video of her infant sucking on her nipple.
