Nev Schulman

Nev Schulman is a television host, producer and filmmaker best known for cocreating and starring on MTV’s Catfish. Schulman grew up in Manhattan and began studying dance at a young age before shifting focus to photography. He attended Sarah Lawrence College, where he studied photography and dance but was expelled in 2006 following a disciplinary incident.

Schulman began his career as a photographer and cofounded a film production company with his brother Ariel Schulman. In 2010, he gained widespread attention with the release of Catfish, a documentary chronicling his online relationship that led to a surprising twist. The film’s success led to the creation of MTV’s Catfish: The TV Show in 2012, which he cohosted with Max Joseph. He was later joined by a variety of hosts following Joseph’s exit from the show, including Kamie Crawford who became his cohost during season 8.

In addition to Catfish, Schulman appeared as a contestant on season 29 of Dancing With the Stars in 2020, finishing as the runner-up with partner Jenna Johnson. He has made multiple appearances on TV throughout his career, including on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and Celebrity Family Feud.
In 2014, he authored a book titled In Real Life: Love, Lies & Identity in the Digital Age, expanding on the themes explored in his TV work.

Schulman married Laura Perlongo in 2017. The couple share three children: daughter Cleo (born in 2016), and sons Beau (born in 2019) and Cy (born in 2021).
