These boots were made for walking? Archie Panjabi addressed her May 2015 exit from The Good Wife — and the rumors surrounding her departure — at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 2.
The actress — best known for playing knee-high-boot–wearing investigator Kalinda Sharma on the CBS legal drama — took part in the panel for NBC’s Blindspot, which she is joining for season 2.
During the event, a reporter asked Panjabi, 44, to comment on the Good Wife scene that she shares with Julianna Margulies (Alicia Florrick) in last year’s season 6 finale. The two costars were at the center of tension rumors during their time together on the show, and it has been reported that they were not on set at the same time while the scene depicting the two characters sharing a drink in a bar was filmed. Green-screen magic was rumored to have been later used to make the characters appear to be chatting.
“Look, I loved playing the role of Kalinda,” Panjabi told the crowd during the Blindspot panel. “I had such a great time on it. It’s something that was very special to me.”
“I’m so thrilled to be on another show,” she continued. “In terms of anything that happened on The Good Wife, I think it’s only respectful for it to stay on The Good Wife. It was time for me, for many reasons, to unzip the boots and step into another show. But I can tell you, for those who miss the boots, I do wear a pair of knee-high boots on Blindspot.“
The Good Wife signed off for good in May after seven seasons, although fans can rest easy knowing that a spinoff focusing on Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) is on its way to CBS All Access.
Blindspot returns to NBC on Wednesday, September 14, at 10 p.m. ET.
