What was all the fuss about? Kim Kardashian insisted in a new interview that she never intended to create such an upheaval on the internet by posting her now-infamous nude selfie back in March.
“I truly was baffled that people still cared. They have seen me naked 500 times!” the reality superstar, 35, explained to the Recode Decode podcast’s Kara Swisher. “Some people were outraged because I am a mom, some people were so supportive … I just think it looks good, I am really not trying to cause a reaction.”
As for those who slammed Kardashian for putting her naked body on display, the mom of North, 2, and Saint, 6 months, has a message for her haters.
“My personality has never been, ‘I’m such a feminist and follow me and be naked!..’” the Selfish author continued. “If you are conservative and that’s how you are comfortable, more power to you. I respect you. You don’t have to look at what I do.”
As Us Weekly previously reported, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians personality’s scandalous Instagram caused a divisive argument between famous supporters (such as Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Thorne) who stood behind Kardashian’s NSFW photo and critics (including Chloë Grace Moretz and Pink) who deemed it inappropriate.
In response to the backlash she faced over the skin-baring pic, Kardashian said that she meant only to promote a message of empowerment and body positivity.
“I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me,” she shared on her website on March 7. “And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world.”
