Harry Potter fans, rejoice! A preview trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premiered during the MTV Movie Awards telecast on Sunday, April 10, giving fans a more in-depth look at the much-anticipated Harry Potter spin-off.
In the clip, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) is embarking on a journey from his native Britain to New York City, where he discovers an entire secret community of witches and wizards.
The trailer also shows Redmayne as Scamander, smuggling beasts through airport customs with a “Muggle worthy” flip of a switch.
“Anything edible in there?” the customs agent questions him. “Any livestock?”
After Scamander answers in the negative, the agent looks him straight in the eye with a dramatic, “Welcome to New York.”
Fantastic Beasts also stars Ezra Miller as Credence, Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, Ron Perlman as Gnarlack and Jon Voight as Henry Shaw Sr.
In March, Harry Potter scribe J.K. Rowling confirmed that Fantastic Beasts is just the first installment in a trilogy.
“You heard wrong, I’m afraid,” she tweeted at a fan who thought Rowling’s new play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, would become a film. “#CursedChild is a play. #FantasticBeasts will be 3 movies, though!”
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set for release on November 18. Watch the clip above!
