Alexis Ohanian

Alexis Ohanian is an entrepreneur and cofounder of the social media site Reddit. Ohanian was born in Brooklyn and moved to Maryland as a child where he graduated high school. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 2005.

Post-graduation, Ohanian was set on starting a business with his college roommate Steve Huffman. The pair began Reddit as a startup in the summer of 2005 and reportedly went on to sell the company for somewhere between $10 million and $20 million the following year. In 2015, the two returned to the company as chairmen and eventually stepped down in 2020.

Ohanian has also dedicated his time to social causes, often raising money for various charities and pushing for progressive change within the investing and startup spaces.

In 2016, it was announced that Ohanian was engaged to tennis player Serena Williams. Their first child, daughter Alexis Olympia, was born in September 2017. The pair wed two months later, and their second daughter, Adira River, was born in 2023.
