Malcolm-Jamal Warner
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Warner showed an early interest in acting, which led to a career as a child star before he attended The Professional Children’s School in New York City. Warner skyrocketed to stardom as Theodore Huxtable on NBC’s The Cosby Show. While playing the fan-favorite character from 1984 to 1992, Warner scored a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 38th Emmy Awards.
Warner subsequently went on to star in Malcolm & Eddie, Reed Between the Lines, Sons of Anarchy, The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story and The Resident. He was also an executive producer for PBS Kids’ The Magic School Bus and expanded into music — with his song “Jesus Children” receiving a Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance
The actor dated his The Cosby Show costar Michelle Thomas, who portrayed his onscreen girlfriend Justine, until 1994. He was at her bedside when she died in 1998 as a result of a desmoplastic tumor. Warner was linked to Karen Malina White and Regina King before marrying his wife, whose identity he chose not to disclose. The couple welcomed a daughter before Warner’s death in July 2025 at age 54.
