Nick Offerman

Nick Offerman is an Emmy-winning actor and New York Times bestselling author. Offerman graduated high school in Illinois before attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He later helped form Chicago’s Defiant Theatre Company.

The actor got his start in theater productions in the early ‘90s. He worked at a number of theater companies, including Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where he also began woodworking and fight choreography. Offerman later got into improv comedy, which gained him the attention of the producers of the beloved sitcom The Office. He first made on screen appearances in films such as City of Angels, and on shows such as Gilmore Girls and American Body Shop.

In 2009, the actor landed his breakout role on Parks and Recreation as Ron Swanson. Offerman starred in the NBC sitcom alongside Amy Poehler and remained a principal cast member until its end in 2015. From 2018 to 2021, he hosted the craftsman competition show Making It with Poehler, and the show earned him three Emmy nominations for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program.

Offerman later starred in shows such as The Good Place and The Last of Us, the latter of which won him the 2023 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. He has also lent his voice to shows such as The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers, and was the surprise announcer for the 2025 Oscars.

He is a New York Times bestselling author and released his debut novel Paddle Your Own Canoe in 2013.

Offerman wed actress Megan Mullally in 2003 after meeting as costars of a theater production. The couple has made a number of on screen appearances together, including on Will & Grace and Parks and Recreation.
