Remembering Ziggy Stardust! Lady Gaga is set to perform a touching tribute to the late David Bowie during the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on Monday, February 15. But that’s not the only way the pop diva is honoring the rock legend.
In a Snapchat, Gaga, 29, showed off her new rib tattoo of Bowie’s iconic Aladdin Sane album cover, which features a closed-eyed Bowie with a red and blue lightning bolt painted over his face.
The new ink is located directly above a giant rose on Gaga’s lower left hip, that has vines and flowers cascading across her lower back. Bowie passed away from a private battle with cancer at the age of 69 on January 10.
“We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year’s show, but when David passed — almost in a single moment — we knew we had to change direction,” Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich said in a statement, via Entertainment Weekly. “We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She’s perfect for it.”
As a part of her Snapchat story, Mother Monster also showed a nude photo of herself from behind, getting a tea leaf mask over her back.
“What do my tea leaves say,” she captioned the image.
Gaga is fresh off a widely praised performance of the national anthem at Super Bowl 50. She also just won her first Golden Globe for her performance in American Horror Story: Hotel.
