The British tabloids may have been planning their wedding, but Sienna Miller says she and ex-fiance Jude Law were nowhere near marriage when they split up for the second time last month.
"We weren't [re-engaged]" Miller, 29, tells The Guardian. "I think it happens in everyone's lives: you get back together, you try and make it work, and it doesn't."
The GI Joe actress and Law, 38, began dating in 2004, but broke up following his affair with his children's nanny in 2005. They started seeing each other again last year, and Miller says she was "astounded" by the way people were "angry" or "disappointed" that things between them didn't work out this time.
"It's not acrimonious," she said. "It had run its course."
In fact Miller, who's currently starring in Flare Path in London's West End, claims she's ready to begin a new chapter in her life.
"I'm in a very different place to where I was," she says. "I feel like I experienced my 20s in all their glory and all their disastrousness, and now I feel much more calm. It feels like a new, more serious decade."
