Thanks, but no thanks! Amy Smart admitted to Us Weekly that she “dreads” traveling on planes with her 17-month-old daughter Flora, and the actress is definitely not alone. Most parents of toddlers — at some point during a flight — have a moment of “What was I thinking!?”
“She doesn’t want to sit at all,” Smart, 42, explained to Us at the Environmental Media Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, May 22. The Varsity Blues star recalled an especially stressful trip with Flora and her husband, Carter Oosterhouse. “I was basically in the aisle the whole time walking her back and forth,” said Smart. “She was screaming and loud!”
George Clooney and wife Amal Clooney can relate to the stress. Back in December 2017, the couple gave their fellow first-class passengers noise cancelling headphones along with personal note apologizing in advance if their then-6-month-old twins, Alexander and Ella, made noise during a flight to England.
Oosterhouse, who stars on HGTV’s Trading Spaces, feels the same way his wife does about flying with Flora. “We’ve traveled with her and that’s the scariest thing!” the 41-year-old dad quipped to Us in September about taking the baby to see his family in Michigan. He then predicted, “I think once she starts to really walk, it’ll be more challenging.”
Smart and Oosterhouse, who married in 2011 after one year of dating, welcomed their first child via surrogate in December 2016 after years of fertility struggles.
“It’s hard and she’s so busy,” Smart, who’s happy with just one child for now, told Us of parenthood on Tuesday. “But it’s also the most precious experience to be a mom
