Birthday treat! Pregnant Joanna Gaines is celebrating her 40th birthday with a baby in tow and a doughnut — and she’s loving it.
The reality star kicked off her birthday celebrations by sharing an adorable Instagram photo of herself having a bite of the dessert on Thursday, April 19. “This is 40. And I like it … #pregnantandforty #anddoughnuts,” she captioned the snap.
Her husband, Chip Gaines, also took to Twitter to send her some birthday love: “Happy birthday sweet girl! #40neverLookedSoGood.” He then asked his followers to help her to reach 1 million followers on Twitter. “I’m a complete @twitter nerd. I’ll admit that! & this is sooo superficial & DUMB, but … I’d really like to see @joannagaines hit 1M followers on her bday,” he wrote. “Kindof a #Twitterverse gift to her.. One more thing, for every new follower she gets today. I’ll donate 1$ to @StJude. GO!”

As previously reported, the Fixer Upper stars are expecting their fifth child together — a baby boy. He announced that they were having another baby in January by posting a photo of his wife’s belly. “You might recall a few months back.. the ever amazing, ever romantic @JOHNNYSWIM was in Waco. And they put on a little too romantic of a concert …” he tweeted at the time. “Anyways, one thing led to another, & we are officially pregnant. And I could not be more EXCITED! #5 #7ThePerfectNumber.”
Months earlier, the HGTV stars announced that season 5 of Fixer Upper would be their last so that they could focus on their family. The Magnolia Table author took to her website before the finale aired on April 3 to share her feelings about the show coming to an end. “This season of life has been rewarding, challenging, unbelievably fast and furious and nearly everything in between. Back in September when Chip and I posted the blog announcing that this season would be our last, it still seemed so far away,” she wrote at the time. “At the time, we were knee-deep in the restaurant renovation, we had filming left to wrap up, and we were working toward finishing up several projects. April felt like it was forever away, but somehow it snuck up on us. Time is funny like that, the days sometimes seem long, but the weeks, months and even years fly past us when we least expect it.”
She also opened up about her pregnancy and how it’s been to share the experience with their other children — Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7. “Pregnancy has been so fun, in fact my two favorite things to do are take naps and eat! Since it’s been over eight years since I was pregnant with Emmie Kay, I joke with my friends that it feels like it’s my first time being pregnant. The best thing about all of this is the excitement that my kids have shown for their new baby brother. Since I had our first four babies so close to one another, none of them actually remember me being pregnant,” she added. “They love my growing belly (and boy is it growing), and they cannot wait to meet him. I truly believe this baby is a gift from God for our family in this season.”
The couple tied the knot in 2003 and starred in the hit HGTV series together for five seasons from 2013 to 2018.
