Pregnant but not ready to announce it yet? Learn the art of concealing a baby bump from celebs like Kourtney Kardashian, Mila Kunis, Rachel Bilson and more.
Wear Fit-and-Flare Clothing
Hayden Panettiere was a huge fan of body-con dresses to show off her fit, petite frame. That is, until she became pregnant. At the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala on May 5, just weeks before Us Weekly exclusively broke the news she was expecting her first child with fiance Wladimir Klitschko, the Nashville star, 24, looked glamorous in a strapless Dennis Basso gown that was cinched in at the waist but had a full skirt.
Rachel Bilson, 32, used a similar technique at the CW Upfronts in a Mary Katrantzou floral dress on May 15, one week before Us exclusively revealed the Hart of Dixie star and fiance Hayden Christensen‘s baby news on May 21.
Think Outside the Box with Jackets
Despite temperatures in the 60s, Kourtney Kardashian, 35, (whose pregnancy was exclusively unveiled by Us on June 4) paired her lace Valentino dress with a white moto jacket. The hip-length leather piece added an edgy component to her otherwise feminine frock—and concealed a bump.
Scarlett Johansson also employed a jacket during her first trimester. At the Cesar Film Awards on Feb. 28, the Captain America actress wore a fitted blazer with straight-leg pants. The bottom of the jacket flared just enough that no one would think she was hiding a baby bump. On March 3, Us confirmed that Johansson, 29, was expecting her first child with fiance Romain Dauriac.
Hold Onto a Baby
What better way to hide a baby bump than with an actual, adorable baby? Kardashian proved an expert at this strategy while in Paris, when she frequently used propped soon-to-be middle Penelope, 23 months, on her hip as a diversion technique.
Get Creative with Props
When clothes won’t cut it and there’s not a toddler around, look to eye-catching objects. Kardashian chose a curious black hat while in Paris for sister Kim‘s wedding to Kanye West, Johansson used her statue from the Cesar Film Awards; and Mila Kunis opted for a little retail therapy at Jimmy Choo to distract from her growing belly on March 14 before her pregnancy with fiance Ashton Kutcher was confirmed to Us on March 23.
