No checkered tie or “World’s Best Dad” coffee mug for this guy! Kim Kardashian wanted to get boyfriend Kanye West something extra-special to commemorate his first-ever Father’s Day — the couple welcomed baby girl North West on June 15, five weeks before her anticipated due date — and it looks like she succeeded. On Monday, July 1, the 36-year-old rapper took to Twitter to show off his unique present from the 32-year-old reality star: a pair of computer mice signed by Apple co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
“One of the other gifts my girl gave me for fathers day,” West tweeted, along with a photo of the accessories.
West is a big admirer of the late Jobs and in fact thinks of himself as the “Steve Jobs” of his own industry. “I think what Kanye West is going to mean is something similar to what Steve Jobs means,” he said in a recent interview with the New York Times. “I am undoubtedly, you know, Steve of Internet, downtown, fashion, culture. Period. By a long jump. I honestly feel that because Steve has passed, you know, it’s like when Biggie passed and Jay-Z was allowed to become Jay-Z.”
“I think that’s a responsibility that I have, to push possibilities, to show people: ‘This is the level that things could be at,'” he explained. “So when you get something that has the name Kanye West on it, it’s supposed to be pushing the furthest possibilities. I will be the leader of a company that ends up being worth billions of dollars, because I got the answers. I understand culture. I am the nucleus.”
In any case, between his new album, Yeezus, and his new baby girl, North, the hip hop star has a lot to celebrate these days. So that’s exactly what he did at Jamie Foxx‘s BET Awards after-party in Thousand Oaks, Calif., on Sunday, June 30.
An onlooker tells Us Weekly that West slipped in to the Malibu Red-sponsored bash just before midnight. He and his entourage were then promptly ushered into the VIP area, where Foxx himself was waiting with rapper T.I. to greet the new dad. (West and the Django Unchained actor are old pals; they collaborated on the 2005 hit single “Gold Digger.”)
Fellow party-goers offered their congratulations to the Yeezus star, who accepted with a simple “thank you.” He hung out in the VIP area for just a few minutes before heading inside for the rest of the night.
Prior to Foxx’s party, West had been laying low with Kardashian and their newborn daughter at home in L.A. He was spotted for the first time since North’s birth on June 27, on an outing with his baby’s grandmother, Kris Jenner.
“They are both so in love with their little girl,” a source told Us of the proud parents, who brought their little bundle of joy home from the hospital on June 21. Added another insider of the baby: “She’s tiny and perfect.”
